Q.Who is a debt collector?

A.According to the Federal Trade Commission, a debt collector is any person who regularly collects debts owed to others for personal, household. or family related items or services. This includes attorneys who collect debts on a regular basis to recover monies owed on past due accounts. Some businesses may also be considered a “debt collector”, if the business spends more than 4 percent of its time trying to collect on past due accounts.
