Q.Is a Homeowners' Association (HOA) required to hire a management company?

A.Some, but not all, condominiums require professional management, or state that a vote of the homeowners' (and in some cases, the approval of the mortgage lenders) is required to discontinue using a professional management company. Absent such a provision in the governing documents (Articles, Bylaws or CC&Rs), a professional management company is not required, but it is generally advisable.
