Q.Will closing old credit accounts increase my score?

A.No. In fact, closing an old credit card account may actually decrease your credit score. Remember, your payment history and the length of your credit history are both major factors that contribute to your credit score. Older accounts, even with a zero balance, establish a longer history as a credit user.
