Q.Can a landlord charge me an application fee or credit check fee? (CA)

A.YES. In California, property owners are allowed to collect an application/credit check fee up to $30.00 so long as the owner/manager provides the prospective tenant with an itemized receipt for the fee. The owner must only furnish a copy of the credit report to the prospective resident, if requested.
