Q.Can I register a domain name or web address as a trademark?

A.Sometimes Yes and Sometimes No. If the domain name or web address is used in commerce to identify the source of goods or services, and is distinctive, then you may be able to register the domain name as a trademark or service mark. However, simply reserving the domain name with a domain name registry such as INTERNIC, and posting a simple website, will not suffice. The domain name must also be used to identify specific goods or services provided on the website for the domain name to be considered trademarkable.
